BTRussia.com continues to follow up with one of the most important tournaments of the season – the Beach Tennis World Championships in Cervia.

Vinicius Font : “I wouldn't say that Moscow was full of surprises. We knew that Italy is on top of the planet as far as beach tennis goes. Right now Brazil is 2nd and Russia is 3rd. Russia is doing a very good job with beach tennis, investing a lot to this sport. We could see it on the World Team Beach Tennis Championship in Moscow, which is growing by year. I'd like to congratulate the organization one more for the event this year, everything was just great. As I said I don't believe it was a big surprise... I called russian team a Russian roulette, because it's pretty hard to play with them. It's a lot of pressure, so hard to get a rhythm, and they serve too good, and they are always in front of the net. They become much better this year, so they deserve every match they won. So it wasn't surprise when they became 2nd and almost beat Italy in the finals.

 I congratulate Team Russia, they were super good! Mainly Nikita, he was like a superhuman on the court. He covered entire court during the mixed doubles against me, so I couldn't find the spot to put the ball. It is a good moment for him, but I hope he keeps training, because I'm training here and I hope to beat him next time. 

In Torre del Lago we were seeded (1) but we lost our second match to Garavini and Beccaciolli. Becca played amazing bt, I've never seen him playing like this. With no pressure he served very well even with the wind, so they were better and deserve to win. Next match they played against Cramarossa and Burmakin, who are a very great team. And if they would play together again they could beat many many doubles for sure. On the other side we had amazing player Cappelletti, who is very good and could win this tournament too. For Cervia my expectations are always good. We are seeded (2), but here we have many strong teams, who come not for fun, but for the victory. So every match is going to be like a final. But I'm pretty confident right now, me and Mingo were practicing here a lot, and we hope for the best. We hope to win!”

The first days of the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships already bought to us many interesting events. There were competitions on Monday and Tuesday at categories under 12, 14, 16 and 18. And now qualification competitions are keep going. They will define 5 teams for men's doubles and women's doubles main draw, also 5 lucky winners would receive a wild card (WC) from the ITF, the other 22 teams were determined in accordance with the ITF rating. We wait for the draw of the main tournament tonight, so when we receive we will inform all the beach tennis lovers.

P. S. the latest results of the Team Russia in Cervia: Yaroslav Korotchenko who played with Constantinos Polyviou unfortunately didn’t pass through, but our Russian team Ivan Syrov/Nikolay Guryev after two impressive victories are preparing for the game with the Italians on the way to the main draw of the Championships.
