In WD and MD the main favorites, seeded as first doubles, were compelled to lay down their champion credentials before the final. Alessandro Calbucci and Marco Garavini after their victory in a long and intense quarterfinals against Luca Carli and Luca Meliconi, lost to the 4th seeded Michelle Cappelletti and Matheo Marighella. In the other half of a draw table Luca Camarossa and Marco Antonelli won the Russians Bumakin/Kuptsov in quarterfinals in one of the most prolonged and hardest matches of the championships. And in the semis as they expected, they met non-Italian competitors and won Brazilian duo Ferreira/Santos in two sets.

Women's doubles also hasn’t done without sensations…For the first time in the history of ITF Beach Tennis World Championships non-Italians will play in the finals. Eva D’Elia and Veronica Visani lost to German Maraike Biglmaier and Venezuelan Patricia Diaz in semifinals. And in the final match girls will meet with Daina/Gasparri (Italy), who beat last year's champions Federica Bachhetta and Sofia Cimatti.

In mixed doubles Brazilians Font/Cortez managed to reach the semi-finals by beating the Russians Burmakin/Churakova 4:2 5:3. And now Vini Font will play against his partner Alex Mingozzi and Ninny Valentini, who passed to the semis by walkover on Nikoyan/Camarossa. In another part of the mixed draw table Marcus Ferreira and Magalie Garnier reached the semifinals by beating another Franco-Brazilian Duo Santos/Bourdet. The semifinal match is going to be hot, cuz guys will compete with an well experienced Italian mixed double of Cimatti/Faccini.

The program of the tournament will continue today in the morning: the final will be played in the age group under 16 years and under 18 years, and of course we could see the mixed doubles. On the second half of the day Delfino beach will host the final in the women's doubles Daina/Gasparri vs Biglmaier/Diaz and the final in the men's doubles Marighella/Cappelletti vs Cramarossa/Antonelli.

«It's amazing to play as the first foreign team the final in Italy in the world championships. Of course, there is a strategy, but we will not talk about it yet. It's a bit easier to play here because Patty and me can play together and not against each other also the warm weather, and the atmosphere is pushing us a lot here!»
