The 16-year-old boys Riccardo Biagioli/Nicolò Bretagni beated Federico Galeazzi/Francesco Valeri 5-3 4-1. At the under 18 tournament Italian Duo Giuseppe Attolino/Andrea Banci was stronger than the Spanish-Italian pair Saulo Tejada/Marcello Zanon 4-1 5-3.

J17That's how the triumph of the Russian juniors commented Artem Paramonychev (coach and captain of the Russian national team juniors): "It was the first ever juniors tournament held In the framework of the 2016 World Championships of beach tennis, and it was held in three age categories. The Russian team was represented by 3 pairs: at the age of 14 and under: Vasily Reutov/Anton Arzhankin and AnnaRomanova/Ekaterina Glazkova, at the age 18 and younger: Regina Livanova/Daria Zheludchenko. And Juniors at the age of 18 and younger has also performed Yaroslav Korotchenko paired with Maksimilians Andersons from Latvia. After WTC in Moscow we were the only Junior team that was able to provide decent resistance to the juniors of Italy. Let me remind you: in the group stage on WTC Russian girls lost in 2 sets, then boys won their meet in 2 sets, and the fate of first place in the group and in the entire tournament was decided in the final mixed doubles in 3 sets match, where unfortunately, the Junior team of Russia lost, and because of the format of the tournament had the opportunity to fight only for 3d place. So before travel to Italy we expected the successful performance and the highest places!

At the girls tournament our team Romanova/Glazkova played one match more than other rivals because of the draw, in the second match they met with one of the favorites of the tournament, the same girls to whom they lost in Moscow! It was one of the most resistant matches of the entire tournament where our girls won willed victory in 3 sets match! The next rival was already known to us by WTC, girls from Venezuela, which we managed to beat in 3 sets, in the Final our girls met with leaders of Italian national team! It was a very tight match in which our girls showed determination, desire to win and incredible resistance to pressure of fans from Italy, after a tough victory in the first set, our girls led 2:0 in the second and here the unexpected happened - one of the Italian athletes was unable to take the pace and speed, offered by our girls, took a medical break, and then the pair withdrew from the final match due to not be able to continue the fight! Thus, our girls have proved that with year and a half training, we are able to provide decent resistance to the global teams who have years of training experience and built a system of training beach tennis players. The girls won the founders of beach Tennis in their own backyard!"

"Our double Anton Arjankin/Vasily Reutov was the only foreign pair of 20. They were the only guys who was able to beat the Italians at WTC in Moscow, so they had an increased interest, and a very serious attitude of the opponents. The strongest team of Italians and our boys were spread in the draw in different parts, so that they could meet only in the finals! Both teams went to the final quite smoothly, beating their opponents in 2 sets, showing their excellent technical and tactical preparedness. The hardest games for us and for Italian favorites were semifinals, our match was played out of 3 sets and it was a meeting of equal opponents.

The main difficulty in this tournament for our athletes was that each pair from the opponents was unknown to us, whereas our opponents had the experience of playing against each other and they had prepared a strategy game, so our guys had to quickly adapt and pick up schemes directly during the match, and due to the fact that all the Junior tournaments as an adult mixed, were not in the standard version of 3 sets to 6, but from 3 sets to 4, so the task was more complicated. Both teams won the semi-finals and everybody was waiting for the finals! The match was scheduled for Centre court with 3,500 people crowd, online streaming, DJs and commentators from Italy. In the final match, our boys took the lead 3:0, but could not keep advantage and lost in 2 sets, losing 3:5 0:4.

They showed themselves as real fighters, played with huge desire and drive to win, but the experience of Italian couples and active support of the tribunes affected the outcome of the match. Our team showed a great level of beach tennis, unity and focus on victory! After such performances, and for the first time in the history of Russian beach tennis has won 1st place and 2nd place in doubles the personal world championship, we hope for the fast development of this sport in Russia, and for the opportunity to continue to delight excellent results", - said Artem.

Btrussia congratulates our juniors and their captain Artem Paramonychev with excellent results! We wish not to stop on reached goals and continue in Bulgaria at the European Championships!
