As previously reported, this year a record number of teams participated in the tournament - 33 adults and 10 Junior teams. Judges and tournament organizers had to solve a difficult task - to choose the optimal format of the competition. The final decision was announced during a team captains meeting on Monday night.
Tournament net is made for 28 teams. The first 4 seeded teams automatically advance to the second round: Italy, Brazil, Russia and Japan. A direct hit on the main draw itself provided the 23 teams. The remaining 10 will compete for the 5 remaining spots in the qualifying stage. There are teams of great Britain, Poland, Belarus, Morocco, Algeria, Moldova, Egypt, Thailand, Tunisia and Finland.
The seeding of the tournament is composed of calculating the overall rating of the 4 players in each team.
The Junior tournament will start with group stage. 10 teams were divided into two groups where each team should play 4 games. The team that took first place in the group will compete in the finals. As the international Junior rankings does not exist, teams were sown from the calculation of the results of last year's championship. That is, Italy and Brazil appeared in different subgroups.
On Tuesday 12 July will be the first Junior game and the qualifiers in adults draw, and on Wednesday the main draw games start.
