At the moment, top of professionals headed by the world champion and European champion Michele Cappelletti. Last week the Italian together with his new partner Luka Carli has won big tournament in the French Martinique, after lost the champion title in Guadeloupe and Reunion island. On this and many other read our interview with Michele.
BTRUSSIA: Hey, Micky! Tell about last tournaments. Any good memories about matches against Russian players?
Michele: Well, reunion tournament is one of my favorite tournaments in the world, nice atmosphere, nice people and amazing organization. In Guadalupe we found another great organization, but unfortunately the tournament's court didn't have a lot of sand so training and play was very dangerous. In Martinique the sand was black but deep so was ok, but honestly the organization of the tournament was not at the same level of reunion and Guadalupe.
Yes, everybody was expecting an easy victory of me and Luca but unfortunately we are not playing at our best in this period so we knew that the final could be a big battle, Ivan and Igor played an unbelievable match, congrats to them! They are improving a lot in the last period especially Syrov.
BTRUSSIA: Tell us about beauty of the places you visited in these countries, what you liked the most?
Michele: Unfortunately I didn't have the time to visited a lot of places due to the fact me and my partner Carli gave clinic in Guadalupe and Martinique before the tournaments, but I will stay here in Martinique for 10 days more to practice my French and give some BT lesson so for sure I will have the time to visit all the island.. I will keep you update.
BTRUSSIA: What has changed in beach tennis this year for you?
Michele: I changed 2 fundamental things in 2016: the partner and the technical sponsor but I feel awesome with both, so no problem.
BTRUSSIA: Do you think that beach tennis success come to stable doubles or better to change partners from tournament to tournament?
Michele: I think beach tennis success is in a very important moment. I mean that we grew a lot during the last 10 years, but now we have to due the final step forward to become an Olympic sport. Unfortunately I think we will need a lot of time due to many difficult situations…
I will play most of the seasons with Carli, then sometimes can happens to play with another player if Carli will not be always available.
BTRUSSIA: Your plans for a beach-tennis year 2016?
Michele: My plan is to be able to remain N 1 player in the ITF ranking.. I'm sure will be very hard but I will do my best to try to keep this ranking until the end of the year!
