BTRussia: tell us About your first visit to Russia?
Federica Bacchetta: the First time I was in Russia was at the beach tennis world Team Championship in 2013.
Michele Folegatti: The first time in Russia I was at a tournament near Samara (Kinel Cherkassy), in 2012. It was one of the strangest tournaments of my life. We played in an empty area, there was nothing there, there was only a stadium with sand courts. It was unbelievable.
BTRussia: what places have you visited in Russia? What did you like the most?
Federica Bacchetta: I have been to Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kazan. I think that the best place is Red square and St. Basil's Cathedral.
BTRussia: What impressed you in Russia?
Federica Bacchetta: In Italy, I live in a small town, and in Russia I was impressed by the traffic jams. We had to take the Shuttle to the courts. We spent 1.5 hours in traffic and passed only 2-3 km.
BTRussia: Michele what do you think about juniors in beach tennis in the world in General and in Italy in particular?
Michele Folegatti: Juniors are our future. We must finance and develop Junior tournaments. In Italy, we have many public schools that are working well on this. The level of Junior tennis is growing every year. It has a very positive impact on the development of beach tennis.
BTRussia: What age can you start playing beach tennis?
Federica Bacchetta: When I started playing beach tennis, I was 13 years old.
BTRussia: Are professional beach tennis and children compatible?
Federica Bacchetta: I Think if You want to be a professional, you first need to devote a lot of time to training. In the beginning, with the child it will be difficult, but in 6 months-a year it will be easier. It is important to have the support of your husband and parents. You may not be able to travel all over the world, but you will be able to play some tournaments.
BTRussia: What is more exciting for You to be a player or a coach?
Michele Folegatti: Both roles are exciting for me. As a player, you can feel the technical and emotional aspects of the game. As a coach, you prepare off the court before the match. Working for others: for a couple, for the team you work with. So I choose both roles.
BTRussia: What cuisine do you prefer?
Federica Bacchetta: My favorite dish is pizza and a special type of pasta-capeletti. Delicious.
BTRussia: What is more important: winning the world Championship or the world Team Championship?
Federica Bacchetta: I think the best thing is to win the world Championship. When I won, it was held in Cervia, and this is my home. But it was also great at the World Team Championship, I had a good time with my team.
BTRussia: What is Michele's favorite dish, which is prepared by Federica?
Michele Folegatti: The master chef prepares my favorite dish – a hamburger. I was joking. My favorite dish is Cappelletti ravanetti. Federica has never cooked it.
BTRussia: Tell your love story.
Federica Bacchetta & Michele Folegatti: Beach tennis plays a key role in our love story. We met each other at ITF tournament in Tokyo (Japan). We haven't been apart since then.
